where can i find an S engine complete??
I have decided to replace my 180,000 mile crap stick for an engine, and replace with a lower mile engine. i have an 88' 944S. and what is a good price for one? i am thinking around $2500. or should i get an S2 engine. i am told they are pretty much a direct bolt on. where is Patrick Perkins when you need him. He has helped me before maybe he can help me now.

As a reference point, Parts Heaven had an S2 engine for $4000 last month (I think it was around 80K miles) -- so that ought to be the upper end.

Bug difference between S and S2. BTW I saw an S2 engine go on ebay about 3 months ago for like 1800 dollars

I'm willing to bet you could put an S2 engine into an S with the S DME, AFM, etc. They are easier to find, and more HP would be nice. I can't think of anything that would not work but the fuel map might be off. You might need a custom chip? As long as you don't max out the AFM it might be all right.
I actually have an S2 engine (no harness or AFM though) but I might have plans for it. Not sure right now.

Hmmm, no MAF or bellhousing, but you can use the S bellhousing, clutch and flywheel and then you don't need the shorter 968 torque tube. The reserve is probably $3K or so.
