When I get done with the vet, I'll see if I can come up. I haven't done a clutch myself, but sometimes extra hands help.

Matt, when you get to town my pager # is (281)294-9260. It's the best way to get ahold of me. Any time I'm on the deck of a tanker, or on a chemical/oil dock, I have to turn off my cell phone. The pager is never off. I leave it in the truck to catch calls when I'm on a ship.

Sid, not yet but it's early and I didn't have the 944 before last Christmas, so this year I'll be expecting one.

Matt, dinner on Monday sounds good! Call me when you are done with meetings.

Definitely are going to need two sets of hands. Two full days for me with a helper and using a lift. Good luck...time consuming job, but not too hard.

OK I got the clutch. My buddy at BAP mis-quoted me the price, BUT at $399 for the SACHS spring center, I wasn't too upset (he originally told me $300).

Kevin
When the clutch goes, there is still the limp home mode, where you will get a metallic clank every time you shift, but you should be able to get home. I am concerned, it can be something simple, like a CV joint coming off (ask me how I know) or something inside the tranny. Which I so hope it isn't.
Let me know how the day goes.

Pete you may be on to something, as when the trans is gear and we turn the drive flanges the input shaft does not turn, does this mean the ring and pinon are gone? tell me no, please.

Iwas thinking something similar since it was abrupt. Start it, put it in gear (on stands of course) and have someone give it gas. Chock front wheels first.

I have never witnessed a r&p failure, nor do I want to. My experience is solely with a messed up rubber centered clutch. When I pulled that out, the friction material was in remarkably good shape.
Have you looked at the half shafts? When the one came off my car, I was rendered immobile. But, if the tranny gears are toast, that would explain the problem. Were you shifting when it failed?
