Rent P234 RMS Tool?
Wondering if anyone with the RMS installation tool (P234) would like to rent it to me or sell theirs to me?
I am just beginning the clutch job on my 86 Turbo now. Located in Boston, MA.

Well, I could rent a clue cheap
I used a 4" ABS pipe cap and about 5 inches of 4" ABS pipe to do the initial seating of the RMS, then switched to a 4" PVC internal plug to finish driving the seal below the chamfer around the rear of the crankshaft. I probably could have just used the 4" PVC part for both but the ABS cap was more rugged in my opinion and took more of a beating.
I don't think you want to waste time or money on the "special tool".

Be sure to use Curil T on the outside lip of the seal and a heavy oil (I used 90w gear oil) on the inside lip and crank before driving the seal. Use plenty of 90w on the inner lip and crank. If you can't get Curil T, some folks say you can use WD-40. You want a lubricant that turns into a non-setting adhesive. WD-40 will pretty much turn into a varnish given enough time but most folks swear by Curil T.

standard pipe sizes work great for seal drivers.
i have the cutoff end of a 2-1/8" wrench (or something like that) which is the perfect size to drive in the camshaft/balance shaft seals
the 944 tools worth spending money on are the arnnworx timing belt tools!

Here's a post on the homemade tool I used. I don't have much run time on the engine yet but the seal seems to be holding up.
