Dear Noah: for a quick and dirty fix that is pretty good to keep water out, one might go to Home Depot and pick up a roll of their extreme weather HVAC silver tape...better than duct tape..used on my son's apron to hold it together for several months while I got a new apron after he hit an iced-up snowbank. It didn't lift the paint on it's removal about 3 months later...hope this helps someone..

I'm pretty sure that if the four drain holes are clear, the water will escape before entering the cabin and landing on your head.

Thanks brothers!

Made the decision to do surgery to adapt the rubber piece. This is the piece I cut off. I lied it actually wasn't as heavy as I thought it was. This part goes into the garbage. See ya!

found this. Considered making one out of aluminum then I realized it is aluminum. Got ill looking & touching the glue & felt. Hate that stuff.

The rubber fits the steel better than something I could make & with engine assembly lube it pops in place easily enough.

Was able to cut the 2 mounting zip ties & loosen every clamp & pull the main fill tube up & out about 15mm.

Then I put the external exterior flap back on, but the toughest work needs to be figured out. I dunno what I'm going to do about rain.

Well the mail came & for the last 2 days my car is acting up again. Terrible idle problems. Perfect timing for my DME coolant sensor connector & throttle body rebuild kit.

The connector is a NEW style that can be removed with one hand. Oh by gosh & by golly... imagine that! No more

I suspect a harness/connector related problem, as mentioned before, which is temperature sensitive. Could be wrong though.

My back up plan is to install a dimmer switch on the yellow wire, which will go from sensor to DME like before but the resistor is in the middle.

Here how I like to turn crappy plastic coated crimp terminals into nice small terminal. I got the hang of slicing them with a razor blade after doing about 8.

Here's the majority of the throttle body bits. The only tricky part was removing the butterfly screws & then cleaning the burrs off the butterfly shaft before removal.

Car's back together. Went for a mild but enjoyable drive 'neath & through the light snow. Sometimes a grey & white day is more fun than in the sun. My complaint in the past has been the roads in 3 outta 4 directions from my town are all a "grid pattern"... boring!! Don't be square man. "Hey man, don't be square alright?".

...but tonight I revisited the roads that I first learned how to motorcycle on. It was fun. Feels like a rally course more than a road course.

And to be honest the provincial government just DOUBLED the quota for speeding tickets. ****ers. And hugely increased the taxes on gasoline, smokes, alcohol. Brought back health care expenses & increased taxes on people who make decent coin.

So with this in mind, even the lowly 4 cylinder's appetite for fuel is a consideration. And of course the over-achiever-**** with a lazer gun has me & everyone else in his sights. I just shut my lazer detecter off because its more on than off & is just a buzz kill.

Sorry if I seem like a cop hater. I'm not. I worked with police officers for years & respect them. But the provincial government is a different story.

The throttle body rebuild kit is KILLER. That was the most fun I've had working on my car in a long time!! If you haven't rebuilt your TB. Order the re-seal kit. It's cheap. Did I find anything wrong while I was in there?

Kind of; hard seals next to the upper & lower butterfly shaft. Also one of the small vacuum lines has the tiniest little pin hole in the main bore that I think was clogged. I sprayed everything with carb cleaner & lightly lubed the seals & bearings with engine assembly lube.

The kit came with all new hardware & the two bolts that hold the butterfly onto the shaft were in really rough shape from extraction. I was going to "peen" the ends of the bolts like Porsche does, but instead used red loctite. Hopefully it holds. Otherwise I'll be buying a new engine

Conclusion: there's a few things that can go wrong with the throttle body which will mess up your idle. This kit addresses those things. The instructions were 100% excellent & if the kit contents don't provide you with what you need then that's because your throttle body needs to be replaced not rebuilt.
So time will tell.

SO I WEIGHED MY CAR TONIGHT.
-Tank was 7/8 full.
-All steel panels/all glass.
-Both seats with sliders.

W/Out driver: or possessions: 2570 lbs/1,165.73 kg.
Street legal.

I'M VERY HAPPY WITH THIS. In a year or two he'll be even lighter. And quicker.

From factory they are about 2800-2900 lbs. Kinda wished I weighed mine when it was "regular".

Here's Wilson when he was "Ol' Wilson" I miss that car. GREAT for touring!!
