Im Leaking Oil
Well, i fixed the brakelights and all was fine and dandy until my dad saw oil stains in the drive way. It was obviously my car but we put a piece of cardboard under the car to make sure and sure enough 3 sizeable drops of oil were laying on it this morning Any ideas as to what it could be and how much it might cost to fix?
This car has to be the biggest love hate relationship in existence lol

What was the culprit for your brakelights?
As for the oil leak, try to get an idea of where it's coming from and I'm sure someone on this board can help you out.
I've been through that love/hate thing. Now I love my car

My mechanic said that the brake lights werent working because the connections were dirty which he said was probably due to it not being driven very often (previous owner used it as a weekend car).
My dad and i are going to hopefully get under the car friday and try and see where its leaking from. I was just wondering if there was a certain place that tends to leak on these cars more than others.

Keep in mind...
Fluids always seek the lowest point to fall from. Your oil leak may be on top of the engine and traveling down to the drip point. If you can't locate it within a half an hour, steam clean the engine bay and look again after a few days..
Good Luck!

Find out if the previous owner used synthetic or dino oil, and if that is different from what you are using, that could cause a leak also. My car leaked about a quart between oil changes, the previous owner told me he used mobil 1, and the car leaked terrible. I put mobil 1 in it for the last 2 oil changes and I lose about 1/4 of a quart now.

I have used Mobil 1 exclusively for the last 5 and a half years.. (and LOTS of miles!!) It doesnt cause oil leakage.
Synthetic may exacerbate a problem, but wont cause one.
I use about 1/4 to 1/2 Qt of oil between changes.. dependent upon conditions.
