Talking Funny Jessie V P-car quote..

In the latest Readers Digest, former Minnesota Governor Jessie Ventura was quoted, when asked how law abiding he was in his new Porsche:

"Well, there's no law that says how fast you can get to the speed limit"

(Actually, I think there may be..something about "excessive acceleration" Anyone know if that is true?)

That's what I tell my wife when she says "why do you need a fast car if the speed limit is 55?"

I believe some states have what is called "exhibition of speed" laws. I think it's applied when people do burnouts.

I had a buddy get a ticket in high school for what is called an "unsafe start". He basically did a burn out from one stop light in town to the next. We were kids :-)

I got a ticket for "breaking traction" it was thrown out in court when I proved that I couldn't damage anything behind me.

Someone already said it, but revving your engine and squeeling the tires here in California is known as "exhibition of speed" you get a big fat one for that now....

So what happens when you lose traction in snow or hydro-plane perhaps? People get tickets for that?

That's like blaming guns for murders. I have never seen a gun fire itself, nor a movie kill an innocent.

Its the Darwin award winning assclowns who pull the trigger, or get behind the wheel with no skill and less brain.

They'll find something to get you on, if they really want to.

I liked Steve Martin's quote. At one time he was a banjo player, but he switched to comedy because he says the least-heard phrase in the English language is

"That's the banjo player's Porsche."
