big build Kool-Aid for the wildlife to drool over on the edge of meltdown....

dyno queens' lifespans measured in hours (and other fun stuff).

when all the original programmer needed – was 8 cylinders.

Voith - loving this what could go wrong/(one hiccup and it explodes)/over-boosted sewing machine from VW group's flawed motor werks dept....

I'm not buying it from this guy; at some point this car was traded in at a CarMax. My guess is there wasn't much interest in the car at 15k...

Then get your *** to CarMax and get it! That's a robbery.

odurandina makes a very good point. it may be a grenade with the pin pulled, or he may be wrong and it is rock solid. But, for 6k, there is probably room to play.

If it was near me, my buddy and I would have bought it like we did our 944S, tracked it like we do our 944S, and say if it blows, at least we had some fun, like we are saying with our 944s with the rustoleum red fender.

if that's the car i'm thinking of, it was hella expensive at one time. and the car is very special in that it was built to breathe. the costs to do that + building it strong are prohibitive, so, you're starting ahead with a nice engine. the key is to make this an advantage instead of pushing your luck.... the high hp curve might end up being somewhat irrelevant despite improved engine management over time.... the limiting factor is the '80s head design. not only in keeping it from overheating, but never warping the head via boost + all the heat you make when you're burning all that fuel, and, in turn, not eating through head-gaskets... if you tune it back to maybe, 325~350 wheel hp (a practical limit for everyday use).... then, provided it hasn't been beaten on (a big if), it'll probably end up being a nice car to enjoy for a long time.

setting up to turn this into a long term hauler = fun + $$$.

but like Tom says; for that entry fee, the risk is reduced.
