LSx swapped boxster S. I've never owned a mid engined car and would like to. Or an lsx swapped maserati biturbo for ****s and giggles. I've also been thinking about doing something dirty with a lotus esprit.

have you ever tried comparing the space in a Boxster or Cayman to a 911? having driven them, I think you're too big for a Boxster. i'm 5' 8" and when I pitch the seat at my normal angle, I've got about 2" of space to slide back on the tracks before the seat hits the firewall... so, I think they built the cars about an inch short (at least). great for women and short guys. i'm surprised people don't talk about this more often.
a 996 or 7 has considerably more leg room. and you roll back, and stretch out way more at a rest area.

I need to go test drive a boxster then, I'm 6' so I need to find out first. I think you have to modify the cabin/engine bay firewall a small amount and that retracts seat space a little. I guess I should do some more research. I've been finding 996 rollers for around 5-8k...I fit in those perfect. If only I could find a cheap Aston roller....

i was very disappointed when i first checked out the cayman.
if you are over 5'10 you need not apply.
at 6'6" i was very sad. but such is the case for all mid-engine cars it seems.
ive had seat time in a testarossa and an enzo and had the same experience. the R8 may be my only salvation.
if you did want to go bonkers, buy a cayman, put an LS in the frunk, a 944 torque tube connecting the motor to the cayman transaxle, and use the original engine bay for storage or a rear seat or *gasp* moving the seats back.

I'm 6'3" and fit fine and comfortably in my boxster. It was a very tight fit with a helmet on, but I could do that to! I was actually more comfortable and had a better driving position in my boxster than in my 951.
