How could they do this ?

that car is beautiful! what an awesome paint job. the corvette grill looks great. that is an amazing hot rod.
the flames on the roof are a little too much though. knocking that car is like knocking the guy that puts side pipes on an old vette, or the cragars on my firebird.

I wouldn't change the paint job if it's 20 years old, sort of sums up an era i guess..

The flames do fit the style that some cars had in 50's for sure (not that I was around back then). However, given they were added at such a late date (relative to the age of the car) there's no reason to feel the paint shouldn't be freshened up a bit.
Personally I kind of dig the flaming car motif. Just another friendly reminder to buy a fire extinguisher.

you guys talk tough about the mods ruining the value of a mass produced t-bird that was known for rust, and being daily drivers.
then you guys post about modding your 944s. make up your mind. in the early 80s t-birds were worth about as much as our 944s. the motor was probably blown, etc.
or, the mods were made when the car was fairly new. something no porsche owner ever does, right.
i put cragars on my firebird in 99 because i didnt see great potential in the market for old firebirds. the market for old t-birds in the early 80s was the same, and unless the car is a pink fuel injected t-bird in near perfect condition things haven't changed much since the early 80s.
what is nice is that most of the stuff is period correct.

It fine if thats what you like. I, as many of you, appreciate the original things and strive to modify my vehicle in a way that will enhance it's performance.
Others want to express themselves in a different manner.
I'd like it without the flames (and I'm a big fan of flames) I was thinking it was customized after a front end wreck.
Different strokes for different folks. I suspect you'll se it at a cruise night soon.

The reason I posted that was not so much the flames but it was the fact they did it to a pre port hole 55. I would think it would look good on a 59+ when they were bigger, but I am a big believer in keeping a classic car like that tasteful especially if it is an original model year. I mean its no tiger lady but still out of place for that small/type of a car.
