I totally agree.
OK, here's more confusion.... '88 TurboS DID come with M030 standard and that means it includes the bigger brakes....

BUT, for MY '89, there are some markets where the M030 was an OPTION! I spoke to a original owner of a '89 MY 951 in Edmonton Alberta, and he bought his car new (still has it) and he advised that for the Canadian Market anyway, M030 was an option - and he did NOT order it, so his 247Hp car still does not have the sport suspension! I don't know about the brakes however.

The M030-package was an option on the euro-sold MY90 and MY91 but they still had the big brakes.

I think you guys adequately confused the person asking the original question. I am wandering, any particular reason why you are upgrading the brakes? Do you track the car or are you doing it for looks? I have found the n/a brakes to be incredibly good for the age and I have seen 968 motors in 944 n/a body and brakes race without any problems. If I am not mistaken, John Anderson's 3.2 L n/a race car had n/a brakes on it and it worked well enough for that monster motor. Before you go through the trouble to buy the spindles, hubs, calipers, rotors, and an alignment, you may want to consider those factors.

BTW, I am not an expert on 924s but will the calipers fit in the 15x6 wheels of the 924 or do you have to buy wheels and fender/quarter panels to fit the wheels?

Hey legoland man,
You are right on about this thread totally straying off topic. i brought this up because a friend of mine offered to give me a set of 968 front calipers for my car if i could use them.

So i posted the question and found out its pretty much not worth it. Also i agree with most people that the brakes on the NA's are very very nice.
With regard to the wheels, i have 17'', 16'' and 15'' wheels for my car lying around, but i think you do need to run a 16'' wheel with those brakes. Correct me if im wrong?

thats what the base 968's had, and thats what the 951's had...
Thanks!
Erich

Yeah, NA brakes are plenty for any of us in the sub-Derek Bell driving ability range. Don't forget the old saw that the NA brakes WERE initially racing brakes when they were used on the 924 D-production SCCA race cars...but nothing is ever good enough so we now have 47 gazillion-piston carbon-fiber-adamantium braking components that can stop the rotation of the planet. I love the feel and ability of the NA braking system, turbo Brembos are even better but incrementally heavier...MF

Hey ErichCS-

If you're not using the brakes, do you think your friend would let them go for cheap? I'd be interested...

sm,
I feared posting that cause i knew someone would be interested Sorry to say but I doubt it, it was my future father-in-law who offered them to me. He is very kind in handing me down parts(Porsche HandmeDowns). He already gave me his old non MO30 sway bars from his 968 when he upgraded...
Could anyone ask for a better future In-Law in regards to Porsches?
-Erich
