A/C - Alternator Turnbuckle - Adjustment Bar WTB
Was wondering why the belts on the 944S screeched, bought new belts, turns out the turnbuckle for the A/C-Alternator is snapped at one joint.
Anyone have a good one laying around for a decent price?
Pelican get $68.
TIA

If it's anything like my 968 that recently had the same exact issue....the rear mounting bolt on the AC compressor broke and caused significant mis-alignment. The whole story with pictures is here:

Just read the whole thing as it came back after I fixed it the first time....had to buy two tensioners before I got it fixed.

Paul, thanks. When i was under the car i thought something was out of alognment. It isnt a dd so i will poke around the compressor when i change the tensioner.

A couple of things:
1. Keep the old tensioner, if the new one breaks the same way, you'll have the one good side to move over to the new tensioner.
2. When tensioning, you need to LOOSEN the two AC compressor bolts (the two on the top, the big front one below the alternator and the small back one).
3. Once the AC compressor can freely move, with the new tensioner on, tension the belt, I did it until I could barely twist the belt 90 degrees on the longest run with my hand.
4. After tensioning the belt, check alignment of the belt, does it look spot on? I ended up adding a few washers to it on the AC mount.
5. Tighten the two AC mounting bolts when it's all good.
