Default 951 LSD part number

So...

I pulled my current trans (5P, 951 open diff w/trans cooler) because I am going to put it up for sale. I got the trans last year some time and shortly after I discovered it has a limited slip in it. It was a great surprise! I ran it for a while and everything was great, the diff locks up like it's supposed to and it functions great. After I pulled it today, I opened it up to confirm what diff it has in it for any prospective buyers. Sure enough, someone had swapped in an lsd. I tried to search the numbers on the diff and only got ONE hit on the first set of numbers and the last set. I was wondering if anyone can help me out, the numbers on the diff are...

4061006326 296266 S40

I assume the S40 is the lock up rate, 40%. Can anyone fill me in on the rest? Thanks. I'll post a separate for sale thread with pics after I get more details on the differential. It's too damn sunny out to get any good pictures at the moment. Thanks!

4061006287 917470 S40 is the part number for the 40% lockup diff in the 915 trans out of the 930. The diff you have sounds like a factory 951 unit, a common misconception was that only the Turbo S cars with the AOR trans (or S2 cars with the AOT) got the 40% lockup, but every m220 car with LSD has the 40% unit.

But the non-turbo cars with the m220 option will have the weaker R&P and sidecases, correct?

930s were not fitted with a 915 box from the factory...they were fitted with a 930 box.

- '75-'77: 930/30, 930/32, and 930/33 short bell-housing variants
- '78-'88: 930/34 and 930/36 standard bell-housing variants

In addition to the shorter bell-housing, those boxes also had a shorter, 0.656, fourth gear and came with a 4.00 FD...versus a taller, 0.625, fourth and a 4.22 FD.
