Re: hatch pins, did the factory use different parts for 944/1 and 944/2 cars?

I've seen some pins that had adjustment slots cut into the head of the pin, and others that were smooth [no slot]. The pins in my '86 have no slots and I'd like to replace them with slotted pins, if possible.

A really good idea to do at the same time is replace the hatch pin seats. That will have a HUGE impact on how well the hatch latches and keeping it from rattling. It made an enormous difference in my hatch and many here have reported the same. Right now the only vendor I know of selling them is only944.com.

I noticed recently on E-Bay there is a vendor selling new collars to go into the latch pin recepticle..to reduce rattle...I bought the SS ones and the went in fine. Used lots of Antisieze on them to get the proper adjustment and to also make sure that the latches would release all right. The all work well on my '83, but two people can make this job go a lot faster if one guy is in the rear of the car making certain that the traverse rods release nicely while the other guy is on the outside slamming the hatch a lot to get the right seal on the hatch lid and fiddling with the key.

For lining everything up with one person, I take the tail lights out... Then it's easy to reach in there.

I have the original Design of the Delrin hatch seat fix, before the only944 guy copied it and ended up needing an O=ring to make his work...

Mine were 15 buck on ebay they are SS and have lasted a year so far.

My old ones were really very soft and broke off very easily when I tried to remove them. I wouldn't try to bend your current ones back if they are bent, I would order the ebay specials, try not to think about the sweat shop they were made in, and try to figure out why the originals were bent in the first place...

Are the tips of Rennbay's hatch pins slotted? If not, what did you use to adjust your pins...a pair of pliers with tape-masked jaws?

Might have to suggest to Travis to put two flat faces, 180* apart, on the shank below the threads for an open-end wrench.
