Default junkyard finds thread

I love junkyards, I love finding cool and unique parts and cars. Today, I hit the jackpot. I'm traveling for work, right now I'm in North Carolina. I got off a little early and decided to drive an hour and a half to a pick n pull junkyard, I saw a 944 in their inventory. I got a 9U LSD turbo trans for $150 out the door.

Post up your finds!

Btw, I'll be selling my 5P turbo trans w/ lsd and cooler here in the not too distant future.

Thanks! The turbo engine was still in the car, the intake mani, intercooler and plumbing, and most everything was gone already. This car was stripped!!! If anyone wants to do a turbo swap this would be a great start ( rebuilt, of course). I think you can get the short block for about $150. The turbo, exhaust mani, cross over, waste gate, etc was still on it and I bet you could get a great deal on the whole package. Also, the timing belt was in tact and the engine turned over by hand.

Wow, that's awesome. Pretty jealous of your location. Haven't seen anything other than a rusty old 924 or two at my local yard.

I'll trade you locations! I used to live in Washington and would visit BC every so often, I love it up there.

I love weathertech, I've got them in my work truck... not cheap either so for $20 that's a great find.

The junkyard was Cape Fear pick n pull in Wilmington. If you pull it, it is your responsibility to build something badass with it...dohc, stroker, big turbo build, etc.

I need a 951 longblock badly, but I'm on the wrong end of the continent.

One time I saw a 944 which I recognized as gray market from the lack of AC and a weird tray under the glovebox, so I scored the AC delete bracket. I tore the engine apart for the 10.6:1 pistons, and I got 3 out. On the 4th one, and employee got in my face because they were closing, so feeling rushed I tapped the piston too hard with a hammer and cracked it. <rage>

If you have a lead on 1 high comp piston, or need 3, let me know.

Fair enough Admiral, I am luck enough to be live out on a remote country/mountain road. The nature here is beautiful.

Went to the junkyard yesterday and scored a black sunroof bag off a 79 924. I had just been saying, jokingly, that I really wished I had one. Not much else desirable. Sad to see it there, it was basically untouched. Only the back seats were there, but they had some sweet orange plaid insets
