Thumbs up She's on her way back

Well now that I am back in country I have actually had a bit of time to get some prep work done. At last I have been able to get started on bringing my ride back together. Here's some pics from this mornings efforts.

I used a gun/compressor to do the job. I used Sikkens paint and had the Sikkens rep spent quite some time at the house working out which was the best way to do the engine bay. After cleaning up the fire damaged paint it was sanding, and dulling the good paint with scotchbrite, then degrease with M600, tack cloth, Washprimer CR which is an etch primer over bare metal parts , then colour build primer sealer over whole engine bay and then an unusal mix of basecoat and clear coat mixed together (this is not something to do for exterior panels though.)

Heres a pic of the Sikkens gear (about 2/3 of it anyway)

I knew you'd get back to it one of these days. Stay on it.... so far so good! How well did the motor clean up?

Hey Perry, The motor cleaned up fine but I had to redo the cam cover of course. Since I had to remove all the marked exhaust wrap I thought I would go all the way and have the headers & crossover ceramic/aluminum coated, as well as keeping the exhaust temp up and the underhood temp down it provides an iota more clearance, they look nice too.

I have hardly driven the silver 951 coz I have been away so much and I just got my orders ... going home to Oz in Jan 04 so the silver 951 is up for sale. Not that I have done anything about it yet
