Default can't fix leak at hose to coolant tank

i've tried tightening it more and even using some silicone sealant but i have a small leak where the hose attaches to the flange not eh expansion tank. could it be caused by a deformed flange? I can't think of anything else.

should I jut buy a new tank. they are pretty expensive, but i'm getting tired of toping off the coolant every week.

Is the hose definitely fine? Is it crimping?

I would try and build up the flange (maybe with an extra inch of smaller tubing stretched onto it) to make sure the hose isn't crimping when you tighten it.

it looks fine to me. the hose was replaced with a new one a couple years ago. I think I may have the wrong hose installed for my radiator, there are two different hoses but they should both fit the expansion tank as there is only one expansion tank for the NA.

what do you mean by building up the flange? I'm not sure what you mean.

I'm just wondering if the hose might be a little too big for the tank flange, and it's crimping, which is causing a leak. If that's the case, you can build the flange out with a sheath. That way the mismatch between the two diameters isn't large enough to cause a crimp.

There should be a metal support on the inside of the tank outlet.
If it was removed or broke off then the clamp could be squishing the barb.

ok thanks sausage hacker. I'll try that out. That is a possibility.

v2rocket, can you post a pic of the metal support? I don't think there is any metal support on my expansion tank.

I think I will have to just buy a new tank even though it's crazy expensive. My tank is so yellow that I can't even check the coolant level anymore and it is also bulging in some spots.

The metal support is molded into the plastic on the inside of the hose outlet. It's brass so it's the same color as an old, faded tank and hard to see.
Also make sure the hose clamp is thin. Some of the thick heavy duty clamps are too stiff and tend to pinch the hose when tightened. Original Porsche clamps are good, typical hardware store clamps might be too thick.

you might be able to sleeve it with an old brass plumbing supply line.

Spring clamps expand and contract while maintaining consistent clamping. My hardware store sells them in the bolts section. Its hard to trust them but they work.

I ended up ordering a new tank from paragon. I need a new tank anyways my old one is bulging pretty bad and it's so yellow you can't see the coolant at all.

can someone post a pic of what type of clamp I should use? i'm pretty sure i have the original clamp on right now.
