Default Late type protective plate (plastic version) fit an early 944??

Hi all,

Just notice that my RHD (1982) 944 2.5NA did not have the aluminium protective plate.

Do you know if the late type protective plate (plastic version) fit an early car??

Or anyone has aluminium version for sale? Ship to 91204.

Thank,
Aey

I might have a spare aluminum plate.
It would be worth checking to see if the RHD and LHD use the same part.

When you say "ship to 91204" do you mean Glendale, CA? If so I could just bring it to you if I find it.

I really couldn't find any online info if RHD and LHD use the same part, but I believe it should be the same Please let me know if you find it

Yes, I mean Glendale, CA. But I'm a 944 newbie in Bangkok. The Glendale address is the address of my forwarder.

Yeah, retired 777 pilot. I wasn't familiar with that terminology for 944's. I was familiar with that phrase (protecto-plate) associated with the factory registration of most GM vehicles. Thanks

I've never tried it but I'm pretty sure the plastic (FRP) and metal belly pans are interchangeable.

The metals ones are pretty hard to find these days - most of them got taken off and forgotten, then thrown away. And the plastic ones were made for like 10 years, vs 3 for the metal.

They don't really interchange as the metal ones have "wings" that bolt up to the frame. Late cars don't have the studs in place for wings, and I think the bolt pattern on the rad support is different.

Anything can be made to fit though.... The aluminum ones I've seen were pretty beaten up, and had their louvers flattened.
