See, I'm 38 years old, and when I was a kid (teen) and reading magazines like Motor Trend, Car and Driver, and Road & Track, 4.0 seconds to 60 was kind of like the Holy Grail at the time. Countaches and Testarosas got below 5.0 but were still far from 4.0. I think the 959 may have been the first production car to beat it, although the 959 was more mythical than real (to me and my friends, at least). I'm probably wrong but that's the way I remember it. Then cars that came after it, like the F40 and Diablo, still couldn't beat 4.0, so it just became ingrained to me that beating 4.0 seconds to 60mph was something truly special.

Ok, that's a smaller cam than what I run, but not by much. I have a 230/234 .601/.601. I made basically the same power and torque as you with a crappy set of shorty S&P headers, stock throttle body and LS6 intake manifold on a junkyard LS1 with 241 heads and a safe, road course tune.
What heads/intake mani/headers are you running? With a 383 I'd expect to see more torque and much closer to 400rwhp, even with the small cam you're running.

Sorry, forgot to subscribe to my own thread and didn't notice the replies.
I'm running the s&p shorty headers, stock early ls1 heads (853 casting), with comp beehive springs, and an ls6 intake with stock fbody throttle body.

If I had that kind of power, I think I would take that risk one time, to get a time under 4 seconds, just to be able to say I have an under-four-second car for 0-60.
