Default Missing panel ... water getting into engine bay near fusebox

Methinks I'm missing a panel of some sort to keep water out of the engine bay from the winshield. Water is collecting in the area by the wiper motor/ fusebox. What is the part called or is there a "removable" solution (some sort of mini-tarp/door sweep-esque contrivance that can be secured upon parking and removed and thrown in the back prior to driving)?

There is no panel, there are drain holes either side of the car near the fuse box and battery areas that drain the water into your wheel wells. Likely your drain holes are blocked. See the leaves collecting by your fuse box, some of those found their way into the drain hole and blocked it. Cure: clean out the drain holes and remove all the leaves and other debris from around the battery and fuse box areas.

Yes, there is a thin black plastic panel at the base of the windshield that is missing.

That is not the cause for the collection of the water, it is because you have debris clogging the drain holes (usually leaves, etc.) Clean the drain holes and the water will drain out almost as fast as it can accumulate.

A simple effective method to clean out those drain lines is to use extremely hot water. Not boiling hot but well above your hot water from the tap. Slowly pour it into the drain holes. That will soften up the gunk that's build up then flush it out. It's good to also do this for your sunroof drain lines.

Default panel

Like this this one is not perfect but pretty decent any small cracks are easily fixed with foil tape on backside. $18+shipping USA
the trim rubber gets tremoved and this fits to metal edge then re install trim rubber. wiper arms are removed and foam tape seals it to panel under windshield.

installed

Below shows the drain hole on RT side battery box area

Ah that panel. Useful to have but it won't cure your problem. In fact it will direct even more water to your fuse box and battery areas. Fit it to avoid water getting in your blower assembly however you still have to clear your drains to get the water out.

Saw the drains this weekend, the right side was dry and the left side had a furball of some sort in it that I was able to wiggle out but I don't think that was the issue.

Where I'm parking isn't flat (the left side is higher than the right side) so that would explain the water draining out the right side but not the left.

I guess unless I can garage it I'll have to jack up the right side and let gravity do its' job after each rain

Default cleanout

You need to address the leaves.

Once the big stuff is removed you can use a coat hanger and hose and all should flow freely out. Might want to shoot some water from under the fender at that opening - There should be a charcoal canister under there also for fuel tank venting. Can't remember how close that is to the exit vent.

Also pull the fuse box cover and make sure the fuse box is fully seated. There are two thumbscrews that draw it down into the metal lip . If water level in that area rises above the lip it could overflow through perimeter of fuse box opening.

I vacuumed out the leaves and all the other debris in there. Porsche needs to make all the drain channels A LOT wider, these are too easily clogged.

Porsche wasn't building a rugged outdoorsy car when they were designing the 944
