If you look at the thread from V996 titled, "Help buying a headlight switch connector/harness", about a quarter of the way down on the first page, you'll see a photo posted of a harness connector with a fused headlight switch male spade.
On the series 1 cars, was there a power relay for the low headlights? I suspect there's a h/l fuse, either on the under-hood CEP or on the in-cabin panel.
I also understand that the series 1 cars had what Porsche called a Driving Light Relay, 141.951.253.B, separate from a Fog Light Relay, 477.963.137 in this 924S case. By Driving Light, was Porsche referring to the high beam headlights?
Re: the aforementioned fused male spade, I suspect something in the switch got hot. Would the power circuit, for either the low or high beams, run through this switch?
What do you suspect was the primary cause of V996's issue...a relay, a fuse, or the high beams simply left on too long?

I almost guarantee it was the high beams after the research I've done into it. I had the high beams on for several hours without realizing what would happen (I also stupidly reset the trip meter while the car was moving which screwed it up). The new owner who inherited the car suggested I use high beams since the normal beams were not strong (thanks, idiot!). Also it is a really old rural-owned car with almost all original, worn out components (however the engine itself scored very highly in a PPI by Chris Kirby in Ottawa so that's why I got it). I'm willing to bet the switch was already a bit warped before I high beamed it for a couple hours.

Regardless, it's amazing that switch still functions. Happy motoring...
