Default Question about cooling temp sensor

Hi all,

I have a bad cooling temperature sensor and I have a simple question. Aside from a bouncy temp gauge what problems will this cause?

Normally I would just drive my other car while I wait for the part in the mail but my other car is down with a fried alternator so the 944 is my only ride at the moment.

None...as far as I know, that sensor simply provides a signal to the gauge in the cluster.

Now, if you had a faulty DME temp sensor, I suspect you could have any number of running/stumbling issues, as the signal from that sensor [along with AFM, TPS, S/R] goes to the DME and controls fuel/timing.

Drove it probably 60 miles today and didn't have any problems with the way the engine ran. No idle stumbling or running issues at all. Just a bouncy gauge.

Just as I would've expected...with a faulty coolant temp sensor. Happy motoring.
