We'll my...a'hem...accountant says that I might not do the rack. I'm just getting sick of wasting all that ATF all over the place. But, do I still need the alingment if I mark the relationship of the inner tie rods? I can probably measure the toe by the relationship of the tie rod to the rack, right?

You can mark everything and be pretty damn close. It would probably be fine. The alignment is recommended. I did not do an alignment after I replaced a control arm (shhh don't tell anyone).

Matt. It will be great to have another set of hands! Thanks for offering to come down.

I'll be "off" for the weekend as my home PC is still dead, so until Monday!

Directions:

From I-45 coming north or south, take the 1960 exit, turn east. Go to Aldine Westfield, and go North. You will go through 5 traffic lights on Aldine Westfield. You will turn into the subdivision named "Cypress Trails" it is only on one side of the street. Go to the 1st stop sign, turn Left, take your 1st right. I am the second house on the right. Look for the Black Eclipse and Red Probe. 832 457 3186 (cell)

Matt, If you have the FSM's that would be great, I am not sure, but I think that Geo has them also.

Kevin

I've got the manual on CD and a Haynes as well. I also have a couple of sets of metric tools. I'll bring the top part of my roll around iover n the truck. I've got ramps to put mine on for the mounts.

Hey Matt,

I'm laying over in DFW tonight. To bad it's short, no time to get together.

Of course, everyone wants to do the crappy job. Are we doing motor mounts on both cars? I will have to pull the instructions on that it has been so long. I think I still have the crows foot though.

Matt, mounts on James' car. T-belt and front seals on mine, maybe some other steering related work as I think the p/s pump is binding. I have developed a funny vibration at about 2K, and the car feels kinda like its pulling something. I removed the p/s belt hoping it would feel better, but I'm not sure. I know the rigged test pipe is leaking exhaust and it may be the increased exhaust noise/vibration that I'm feeling.

Has anyone done the T-belt before? I havent but no time to learn like on someone elses car! We should be able to trouble shoot the exhaust and suspension. We have a store in Aldine if I need to go balance tires or some such. I was talking to a Porsche tech who recommended not replacing the seals unless they were leaking. I trust him, even though I would not generally condone that. It looks like about a 4.5 hour trip. I asked somewhere but I dont know where, do you have pics of the 914.

Matt, what company do you work for? Discount? I think the front main is leaking b/c there is a little oil on the lower part of the motor and the oil pump takes a couple of seconds to "spool up".

George and myself have done one succesfull belt job.

Where in Big D are you coming from? And unfortunatly I don't have a scanner to post pics of the teener.
