Default Pics of inside the AFM

So my '84 decided it'd just totally cut out and not start the other day while I was trying to find a vacuum leak (which I did eventually find, and fix). I tracked it down to the AFM.

Looks like the PO had been in there under the little black plastic cover and had been fiddling. At some point during his screwing around, he must've snapped the head off the retaining bolt that keeps the clip in place which stops the clock spring from unwinding. He stuck it back with super glue or thread sealer or some crap, and it's since come loose.

For now, I have the spring wedged in position, but I'm pretty sure I don't have it at the correct tension. Any of you guys got some photos of the AFM showing the black cover removed, so I can get a better idea of how far to wind the spring?

Thanks!

This sounds like a good excuse to change to a rogue tuning kit

Seriously though, from what you've described, it might well be worth just replacing the unit. should be fairly simple and inexpensive to find a known good one.

I'd offer to sell you mine, but unfortunately, I need to keep mine for specific events that won't let me use my Rogue Tuning kit
If you need to borrow a loaner while sourcing a replacement, I'm happy for you to borrow mine.

The thing is, it's actually running better right now than it has in a long time. If I could afford either a new old AFM or a MAF conversion right now, I'd be all over it, but things are tight and I'd just love to get things sorted for a bit until I can afford a permanent fix.

What I need are more pictures like this one http://www.the944.com/images/afm_in_n.jpg but that one just isn't high enough resolution to accurately set my spring, and I'd like a few other shots for reference, in case it happens that every AFM is different.
