Default Will S2 suspensin work on turbo cars

Header has it all. Will stock S2 suspension, i.e. struts and shocks, work on 87+ turbo car?

what's the difference with an 88 turbo S and an 89 turbo (other than 1 year younger and dropping of the S)? and yes...the 951 body and the S2 body are essentially the same....of course the engine, engine management and transmissions are different

i wasn't sure what differences were in the m030 package that the turbo s and 89 turbo came with. i thought it might be more than just the shock/strut itself

The suspension on the stock 944S2, stock 87+ 951 and the stock 968 are very similar (except the 968 had a larger torsion bar).

The 88 951S and 89 951 had suspension and brakes similar to the M030 944S2 and M030 951. Differences to the stock setup included struts, shocks, springs, spindles, hubs, brake-calipers, brake-rotors, etc.

so any non M-030 should be the same and M-030 should also be the same. Funny, I just bought a car from Sunnyvale, who knew.

What (and where, i.e. dealer or private) did you buy?

They were very nice. What did you think of it. The mileage is high but the price was sooo low. The interior is well above average and it pulls hard. It does need struts and tires. The dnts have been removed PDR for about 200 bucks. Body appears very clean for the mileage.

I didn't spend that much time looking at it but your description seems to be the same as my recollection. You imply you got a great deal. How much (if you don't mind saying)?

Cal Motorsport are decent to deal with. Perhaps not the cheapest but they usually have a good inventory (particulary 911).

Paid less than 4K. To me it wasnt about the money. I wanted an 87+ with a clean body. Mileage was irrelevant as I am going to mod it. This was nice in that the interior is well above average. It does need some work they did not disclose, like the AC doesnt work and it is bone dry so it hasnt been working in some time. I still fell like it was a good deal though. I see no signs of accident damage but I do see some paint work on the passenger side. It appears to have a small trans leak and some other minor problems. All told I will spend less than 2K to make a pretty nice interim DE car. Next year I will repaint it and do major upgrading including replace the engine and turbo as well as some other things. Do you know who TD motorsports is? There are license plates brackets with their name on it but I have never heard of them.

The closest I can think of is http://www.t-and-d-performance.com/

They are a well respected Porsche shop in the Bay Area.

Best of luck with your new puchase. For 4K, you can't go too badly wrong!

I think it is T and D come to think of it. You can go very wrong. This is my 5th one. My wife says I am like a little kid with it. I was rubbing the fenders last night! My victoracer V700s will be in soon, cant wait to go to the track.

The difference between the 88 951S and 89 951 is this:

1. In 1988, they made two 944 turbos: 944 turbo (~220hp) and the 944 Turbo S (~250). The turbo S was based on the Turbo Cup cars they produced (IIRC) a year before, in 1987

2. In 1989, they dropped the stock (220hp) 944 Turbo, and only had one 944 turbo: essentially the '88 Turbo S, but they just called it a 944 Turbo.

Most 951 purists don't call the '89 944 Turbo a Turbo S, BTW.

HTH clears things,
-Z-man.
