Liquid or paste assembly lube for rod bearings?
I'm ordering parts to do the rod bearings and if I understand correctly I need some assembly lube.
I'm told Redline is pretty good but I see they make the original 'paste' in a tub and also a liquid version which is newer.
I'm doing the rod bearings with the engine in the car, and possibly will have to remove/replace the cam tower too if that's leaking. Would liquid or paste work better for this application - I'm not sure which will be easier to apply in this scenario.
thank you for any ideas.

I used the off-the-shelf engine assembly lube from AutoZone...
The lube has to last long enough for oil pressure to build up.
Spin the engine by hand when its all together, then maybe with a drill with the plugs out, then crank without spark until there's oil pressure...then crank it.

Thanks guys, do you think the paste is likely to work better for me since I'm going to be doing this from underneath with the car on jackstands? I don't know how thin the liquid is.
I guess this is a good place to ask about plastigauge too. I see a bunch of different brands but I'm looking at the genuine pl-a stuff which measures (0.025mm-0.175mm)
Should that do the trick for rod bearings and I guess balance shaft bearings too?
thanks again for the help.
