Question Atlanta Area Shops

I just dropped my car off at Automobile Atlanta on Monday so they could do a couple of things on it and now I'm a little nervous after reading some of the other threads on here. Have they done any work for anyone here? How did it turn out? I don't want to judge them for the reviews on their mail orders... Are there any other Porsche shops in the area that you would recommend?

Thanks.

I've heard several complaints about their mail order customer service, but I've always had great luck with them in person and they've always done good work on my car.

The mechanics there see more watercoolers than anyone else in the state.

Price might not be rock bottom, but its cheaper than the dealer and I wouldn't trust my car with a non-specialized mechanic (well, not again anyway...)

Best guy I've found to use is Jerry Widner at German Car Repair in Roswell - 770-649-8700. The owner's name is Alan I think. Jerry is very honest and definetly knows these cars backwards and forwards.

Hope I am not out of line posting his info...

There are two that I have talked to. One of them did my Head work. Proformance Place in Smyrna, Reggie is the owner and he works on nothing but Porsches. And There is another one in roswell ITS or something like that. He races a 944 and they work on mostly Porsches and BMW's.

i second the vote for reggie at pro-formance place. he's not that far from automobile atlanta and does top notch work. not the cheapest, but a GREAT guy and really knows his stuff.

you might check Rylands as well. they do a LOT of work on 944s.

I use Performance Imports in Doraville. They are on Peachtree Industrial just north of 285. Definately one of the best Porsche shops around. They are at all the DE's and provide track support if you need it. Ask for Peter or David.

I just picked up my car from performance imports. I used AutoAtlanta for a ppi (post-purchase inspection) and they did a good job except for the fact that they missed the collapsed motor mounts. I started a thread a while back for mechanics and got some good ones. https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...lanta+mechanic

I've been at AA for timing belts and stuff, they were good.
Just don't mail order anything from them... I buy almost all my parts there, since they are usually fairly cheap. Dealer is closer but always more

I have taken many 944s (six in all) to International Performance Center in Roswell. Kerry Singley is the co-owner and chief mechanic. Extremely knowledgable about all 944s, Porsches, and other German marques. 770-998-2589.

If you are closer to AA in Marietta, I would recommend Ryland Mills at Rylands Import Service, 770-951-9305.

Both are very active and supportive of our local PCA region.
