Jonas,

When retracting the arms for removal, remember you have to push the switch in the "up" position. Are you doing that?

Do you mean retract the arms to take the roof out completely? Or to close the roof?

In any case there is a relay in the center front of the roof. From what I understand this relay goes bad quite frequently. To test the relay you need to take the roof out. Once you have the roof out all you need to test it is a flat head screw driver a phillips head screwdriver and a set of jumper wires. Use the flathead to remove the switch cover be gentle. Then unscrew the switch assembly you also have to unclip it from the wind deflector. Once you have done all of the use the jumper wire to bypass the relay. Then function the switch. With the ignition in position one pressing the switch to open should retract the arms all the way Pressing the switch to close should bring the arms up 1.5" to 2". With the ignition in position 2 it should vent as it already does.

Try that and let us know what happens.

Take the actual motor housing off in the rear, there are two contacts. One for each arm, these tend to bend out and not make contact over time. Check them, I am 70% sure its the problem.

See...mine did the same thing. They would not retract in the correct position, but would retract when the car was on...which if by accident you rest your hand on that switch...you look up to see the sunroof floating around on the highway. This sound like what is happening with yours? With mine, both switches were bent off...yours may be only with one of the two...did you recently change anything on the system?

Nothing has been changed, its not that they are coming down with the car on.... the fact of the matter is, they are not coming down at all.... not with the car on, not with the key in any position.... they are not retracting to take the roof off.... yet they move up and down to vent it.... i am gonna have John Anderson take a quick look at it i suppose and see what he thinks...

Convert to manual.

It's easy and fun.

Sid, by manual do you mean using a socket on the motor? Or using a screw driver (haha).

Well after all of that John Anderson took a look at it and within five minutes had it running perfectly.... now after 6 months of owning the car i was able to drive home with the top off.... isn't it great that it started to drizzle right as i was pulling up to my place.... how perfect is that?
