How much leather in our "Leather" interiors??
Just settling down after owning my '86 951 for 3 months and scrutinising the interior. Looks to me like the only leather in the interior is on the front seat facings. The remainder appears to be vinyl....sorry - "leatherette"!! Are they all like this? - I'm positive mine is the original material.....

Check out the door panels, they're the most obvious. There's stitching EVERYWHERE...on the handles, armrests, seats front, sides, back, I mean everywhere.
There's stitching all over the dash, center console, everything is leather. I think it's the best 944/968 option that was offered. It's NICE!

1. several combinaions of cloth/leatherette
2. leather fronts/leatherette sides and back
3. full leather front seats and sometimes rear as well

I have a full leather interior. It includes all surfaces of the front and rear seats, door panels, lower portion of the dash and the center console as well as the shift boot. Oh what a wonderful smell.

I thought "partial leather" meant the seats (both front and rear) had leather seating areas, and the sides and backs were vinyl? I KNOW my bolsters are leather (ie: the wear on them), and the back seats look to be leather too (stitching and all).
In other words, who would pay over $600 for front seating surface leather?

check the option codes located behind the carpet in "front" of the hatch lock. there is one code for "partial" plus a second code for "full" leather.
My 944 has the "full" leather trim- dash, glove box, shift boot, full leather front seats- but alas the rear is "leatherette"
maybe they were expecting messy kids in the backseat??

My option code is "Leather/Leatherette" seating?
Leather IS a PITA to take care of, especially in a 15-year-old car! Must have been sweet when the cars were brand new! But to me, a $40k plus car should have all leather!
