Default Component ID: rear of instrument cluster

I was replacing the bulbs in my cluster and noticed that a small, 0.75" x 0.125" x 0.125, white resistor, at the far left near the mounting tabs, was dislodged from the circuit board. It appears a small, supporting, L-bracket has separated from the back of the housing.

Does anyone know what this particular component is/does?

Agreed. That is a power resistor. It may get somewhat hot, so it is kept away from contact with the circuit board to prevent damage and increase air flow.
