Well, took the two drive gearboxes apart, both gears were stripped! Put it all back together with new gears careful not to retract them in too far, etc. Set the roof in. went to lock it, AND PROMPTLY STRIPPED BOTH NEW GEARS!!!

Looks like the reason the original ones stripped is because that stupid slip clutch is out of adjustment!

Oh well, just ordered FIVE new gears from Paragon......

amended the order to SIX gears, but fixed the sunroof in my son's car tonight - center switch above the mirror was out of alignment. Good thing is he showed me how to adjust the slip clutch! His roof works perfectly now - and slip clutch is working well before the limits, so maybe the gears will live a bit longer in his car!

Besides removing all the electrical stuff, what's involved in converting it to manual? What hardware is required? Thanks!

I'd have to see the 88 mechanisim. But mostly add manual latches and at the worst add a bar (plastic is fine) about 2 inches long and half an inch wide 1/4 inch or so thick. I did it on my car in 45 minutes incluiding pulling out the old mechanisim.

There is plenty of play in the manual mechanisim. Pick that up and you'll see how easy the rest it.

It's so simple it's scary.

Actually. Thinking about it. You probably have the same curved piece for the actuator arm. The base for that is what I'm using for the anchor for the latch. That being the case. It's probably the same install. So you just have to find manual latches put them in and take out some of the electrical stuff.
