Why would you put 20" wheels on a 944?

My wife and I went to Tulsa today and stopped at Taco Cabana When we pulled in I notice a 944 in the lot partially hidden behind another car. I pulled up next to it and that thing had 20" wheels. I didn't think that was even possible on this car. I don't know how they got them on there or WHY they wanted them on there. The car looked so stupid it was unreal. I wish I would have had a camera. Have any of you guys in the area seen this car? Red late model 944 big A$$ chrome wheels.

Someone needs to show them the light and introduce them to rennlist. If not the next thing you know it will be covered in Neon with a tiger lady painted on it. 5" muffler tip and 3 foot wing.

When I was "experimenting" with 19" wheels I came to the conclusion that you could actually fit 20" in there if you really REALLY wanted to.. the tire profiles would have to be (I think) 30 in front and 25 in rear. 35 and 30 should also go under the wheel arch but just barely, and it'll look weird...
Here's a pic of a 951 with 225/40r19 and 255/35r19 tires - not much space left...

Porsche will "Blacklist" your car if the dealer sees it rollin on rims larger than 17's, I forget where but porsche actually put out a news letter that states that the car was not designed to handle the stresses from 18's and above.......so I guess 20's are no good...I like how the 19s look though ![Wink](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)

It's been my experience that anything above 17" affects handling, esp in an autocross situation. I was grinding my Audi's 18's on the ground during hard cornering with 35 series rubber...
I would imagine that is why you never see F1 or cart cars with huge rims.
