Default Crankshaft mod

Is anyone have done putting Crankshaft from either 3.0L or 3.2L to 2.7 L N/a engine?
I wonder if 3.0l crank will fit there without changing piston rods?
I read 3.2L is required to replace piston rod, since there are short.
And how much did you gain if you have done it such mod.

Thanks

There is no 3.2 crankshaft. It is possible to grind 3.0 crank to achieve longer stroke, but 3.0 has very long stroke as it is.

3.0 crank will fit 2.7 block, since it is exactly the same block.

You can keep rods, they are same lenght, but you will need new pistons since changing stroke will also require change in piston pin position.

block dimensions are the same, rods are the same length. piston pin moves up 1/2 the change in stroke = ~4.5mm higher

So, to compensate this extra movement, the wrist-pin hole in the piston is moved up so the piston is flush with the top of the block at the top of the stroke.

i wonder if it would be doable to chop up a spare block and raise the deck of another 944 engine...

how much stroke do we have room for, and how long a rod could we fit?

Lol - wouldn't it be easier to just get 968 pistons. Or custom pistons...

968 and 2.5/2.7 rods are the same length... so it the stroke increase is 9mm, than like you said, the deck would have to be 4.5mm higher. But then you might need a longer timing belt...

That's a good question. What pistons should I get?
from 3.0L or 3.2L?
So I guess while I'm there I should replace ring or valve seals. I wonder is there kit for sale?

Really why I was asking is because I have small leak from oil pan so if I will do that why I would not replace crank. It should be about 1.5 K, since it's about 1,000 bucks for crank and pistons/ rings should not more the $500.

Also I read it should bump to 200 hp. So it's and plus chip can go over 210hp it's around turbo motor with less maintenance in the future.

There is no factory 3.2L 944 engine

1.5k is optimistic at best.

So I would need to get 3.0 L engine crank and pistons.

look up the hybrid stroker engines the people on the turbo board have been building

maybe you can be the first to do a higher compression n/a version

I freshened up my engine, and it was $2k for rings, bearings, gaskets and seals (and a water pump)!

Add a 3.0 crank, new pistons and some decent head work, and that's easily another $2500. After that expense, you might as well, do the rest of the engine machining - baffled oil pan, re-size the rods, hone the cylinders and get good exhaust - so that's another few grand.

And, to get the airflow, you'll want Rogue's MAF kit and some dyno-time to tune it!

I think you can keep it under $10k if you work hard at it.

Selling your NA and getting a turbo is probably a quicker option. Or, you could put an american V8 in your car.

if you include the 16v head, sure.

OP, it may be more beneficial to source an S2/968 motor and sell the 2.7. or swap cars entirely.

i would like a 2.7 8v if i found one cheap.
