Default Timing Belt Broke $$$

So I was driving it the other day and I started to hear a knock. I knew the miles on her was a little high but a knock, come on. I take better care of her than that. So anyway, I made an appointment @ the dealership to have it ck'd out. I drop'd it off and said to give me a call with the estimate.

To make a long story short and $1700 later, they went to pull it in and the timing belt broke as the mechanic was pulling it in. They said that there was nothing they could do about it and that it was not their responsibility to pay for it either. I said to myself oh well, I guess I'm paying.

They estimated the repairs @ $1700 for the a few things besides the obvious:

- R&R valve cover gaskets and spark plug grommets
- R&R timing belt and timing belt retensionor
- Several Idler arms
- R&R water pump
- Several other small things will it's there

Oh, and I forgot to tell you that this is not on my '89 951... it's on the wife's '94 Isuzu Trooper with 180K miles on it.

Gotcha

I need a hobbie!

Damn, Cory, when I just read the thread title before I opened it up I actually said, "oh no" out loud (real loud). You got me alright! Does that mean we are starting to get attached to each other's cars on here, too?

Yeah, I guess we really are no matter what we think. I was reading your post the other day about changing the clutch on your n/a before it goes and I stopped and thought, knaaa let's see how far she can go! Then I said to myself, "you really should do more homework than worry about Wade's 944".

Oh well, at least we're not serial killers

I have a question for you, did you tell them what happened and thought it might be the timing belt?? If so you can get them to pay for it because with a car like that under that condition they SHOULD NOT drive it until it has been looked at. They should of pushed the car in or towed it in. Just a thought to give you if you told them the condition of the car.

No internal damage wash done to it. It's not a 944 remember ;-)
