not a good day...
so aside from the ant problem i found where the enourmous coolant leak is coming from...the fan belt has actually sliced the hose from the radiator to the engine. call me crazy but bad design. so anyway that needs replacing, has anyone else had this problem? whats the name of this hose (i guess its not bad position hose).

fan belt didnt slice it, power steering pump did.
i got a motor rebuild because of that! lower radiator hose. cut a little off the new one so the hose arcs away from the pulley, also some use chicken ties (zip ties) to pull the hose away.
hoep you didnt warp the head from overheating. if you get oil in the coolant i have the alignment tool to lend you.

its not the lower one, its the one going from the block to the radiator. the fan is right behind it and the piece that turns the belt is where the slice is.

Is it bigger on the end that goes to the block? If so it is the lower radiator hose. It goes from the water pump to the radiator. Mine got sliced too. The power steering pulley gradually cut it over 1000 miles of driving.
After I replaced it the alternator pulley cut the one going from the overflow tank to the radiator a few weeks later.
When you replace the hose make sure to cut a little off of one end to make sure you have as much clearance as possible. For some reason they make these hoses a little long.

The hose may have been on backwards. That happened to me. The difference in clearance was a fraction of an inch, but it was enough to burn a hole in the hose. It lasted like 1 day. The PO put a new hose on before I bought it, and he had it backwards.

lower radiator hose! it is about 2" in diameter goes up and down.
lower radiator hose. cut a little off the end to arc it away from the pulley.
happened to me twice. once it came loose at the clamp and got cut.
thats how i got to buy myself a motor rebuild

I think he's talking about the upper radiator house. There is a little clip to keep it away from danger, that is a real pain in the *** to put on so the PO may not have.
Use a tie wrap to tie it up hugh and you should be fine.

I cut out a small section where the slice was and used a barbed plastic connector and a couple hose clamps to splice the hose back together and then zip tied it to make sure it didn't happen again. The connector was about $1 at the local auto parts place.
