my thinking was not to flame a friend...

tough call. so I flamed the crispy/(already partially melted) engine instead.

anyway, with so many cars out there with moderate damage getting junked,

seems it would make more sense to put those in the cross hairs, watch for Gene's updates on the '68 forum...

and keep bidding.

*btw, just in from watching an awesome practice run of a few dozen Daytona prototypes,

GT2s, (Aston's, Ferrari's, and Porsches, and 1 Audi R8) etc from behind turn 4 at Daytona !!

Kinda ironic how the firewall protected the engine from the fire coming from the rear of the car.

Doug, maybe you're thinking of Kevin's car from Columbus, OH? "kasturbo" on here. He had a black 968 with a build 951 engine, and came to the Fest a few years ago. License plate was "WOUND UP" I think, and his hood had air inlets like that (Dan Jauch put them in).

The car was completely parted out this week. The good news is - so far it appears that all the parts I listed are 100% salvageable and unharmed, aside from some melted plastic draped over things. I am actually surprised at how GOOD of condition everything is. And NO parts are for sale, as of currently.

The bad news is... some of you are probably still just too dumb to think this car was a worthwhile purchase. But that's fine, it simply means there will be more easy opportunities for the rest of us in the future.

And in other news... I'm shocked that nobody has yet posted a photo or has any solid history about this car! I think there are a few interesting leads but I've done a bit of searching around and haven't had any luck.
