I'm looking back at getting into a 944
this time a little more hardcore
I want a 951 or a s2, with plans to go to an ls1
here's where I am at now http://www.stanceworks.com/2012/08/t...iys-jetta-gli/
love this car, lots of fun, but every time I drive it my hand is on the shifter, and then I remember I can't shift.
I miss the fun of 944, RWD, light weight car.
anyone knows of any for sale, or places to start looking? local craigslist yields nothing.
btw, I'm going to re-register and watch those classifieds

Awesome dude. It would be great to see you back in a 944. For a nice 951 or S2, you might have to expand your Craigslist searches to other areas or nearby states even. Sometimes you can find some great deals. Keep us posted on what you end up getting!

IMHO if you're planning on going the LS1 or 3 route, why put a lot more money into a car you're planning to change? I may be wrong but I would think that starting with a later model, i.e., '87 or up, N/A and then putting a turbo-rear end in it. Maybe the bigger brakes and suspension is a reason I hadn't considered but as I get older, I tend to get a little tighter with the $$. Good luck in your search and welcome back.

The '83 is about 200lbs lighter (mostly in the lack of sound deadening) and the coveted manual steering, of course !
If one wants the aluminum control arms, they swap in.

later trail arms swap in like above
the only downside, well, not sure if it's a downside, but there's still no full blown coilovers conversion for 944?

Here is an S2 that needs some love near me. It's been listed a long time at this price. Either they don't want to sell or they should be willing to drop the price at this point. I don't know anything more than what is in the craigslist add. Has Koni Coilovers!

Welcome back...I had taken a year and a half off but always found myself looking for another 944.
One night I was searching on Kijiji and came across my 89 S2..
There are normally a few on Ebay however this time of year many get stored for winter...although it is a good time to get a deal

yep, just going to be careful
how much difference is there between s2 and 951 as far as suspension and brakes go? they should be pretty much the same minus the motor right?
