Default Headlight switch stuck on 924S!

Just bought a 1987 924S. Everything checked out. Then when I get home and try to turn the lights off, the button is completely stuck. Won't flip to the off position.

Anyone have this happen? Do I need a new switch? Can I get any old switch or will only the $50 Porsche switch do?

Thanks.

reach up behind the dash and squeeze the two tabs holding it in, on top and bottom, and pull the switch out. maybe it can be fixed out of thecar

Yes, I already pulled it out. I even popped the actually switch cover off but can't really see anything that could be done.. looks like something is stuck internally on the switch?

so, take the switch apart, carefully and fix whatever is stuck - someone put the switch together, and my recollection (it's been a while) is that it isn't glued or riveted, so you should be able to get it apart, just look at it carefully and take your time.

Update, took quite some time but I took it apart. It was melted inside. I cut out the melted plastic and shaved it down so it could slide freely again. Put it back in and flipped it to the off position and the lights went back down. But it won't go back up. Oh well, I knew I'd need a new switch, least I got them OFF so I can drive it without letting the battery die when I park it for a couple hours...
