Default Neon Srt-4 Owners..betting against my 951..

Hehe
Well well it seems like the neon boys want to see what the 951 is capable of.
Im just curious anyone know anything about these cars?
One neon owner wants to go at it down the 1/4
Now im not much of a dragster but it is fun from time to time and I cant lose to a neon, lol.
They want to go under a $250 bet that my car cant beat him down a straight line race.
Now that is down the 1/4.
So the competition youll hear about will be the legal one.
Dont worry if I race him on the street i wont tell you guys

Basically my car has all you can have but no maf or turbo upgrade
Intake exhaust chip boost controller,Fpr etc;
My numbers are in my sig.

Neon has intake - full 3 inch exhaust and boost controller,I heard theyre pretty quick?anyone know how this could end up.

Now I know this may be a little far fethced but sometimes you cant always be so strict about competition and your porsche right
Just curious as to everyones opinion.
Victorious..or will porsche go down due to technology?

Well, the neon turbo runs 14.6 in the quarter if you can run very low 14.s or in the 13.s you can beat him unless he is modded. Good luck let us know.

Jurg, Car and Driver lists the srt-4 at 0-60 5.6 seconds stock and the 1/4 in 14.1 seconds with a top speed of 153 mph. You can't deny that it is a lot of bang for the buck with an as tested price of 19,995. Could be a hell of a race. But if you were to lose, you can always say that your car looks about 400 times better!

if you really do have 300rw tq, than I dont see you having n/e problems w/ a LSD gearbox, and a 'spot on' launch

It's the launch that I'm worried about: you see, with your independent rear axle, you can smoke your CV joints and half axles if you do too many harsh launches.

And the $250.00 you win won't equal the cost of repairs!

Tell him you'll take him on at a road course, or an autox.

But I say go for it: glad to hear you'll be running at a track. They did a nice job with the Neon SRT-4, so don't be surprised if he keeps up with you, or even wins.

Just don't let a Honduh make a fool of your P-car.....

I drove one the other day, it was alot of fun. I loved (but could not live with) going around a tight corner and flooring it...white smoke was pouring from the front wheel well, great fun. Quick car, lotsa boost. But my chipped 951 would overtake it in 2nd gear easily.

what don't you run him from say 20mph up - less strain on your car - added benifit, is that you don't have to worry about your launching skills - just your rowing skills after you start

It should be a slaughter. You've got more torque, and a better drivetrain to put it down with. What are you running for rear tires?
You should challenge him to a braking contest, cornering contest, or an all around contest (like autox or the track) to show him the full ability of the car.

You should take him if you are running at 15-16psi of boost. I see no reason why you shouldn't. Just make sure you launch the car good and you should be fine! It really depends on how crazy that neon driver is going to be with his boost. I work for a Chrysler dealership and drove a PT Turbo, (same motor as SRT-4) and was not impressed all that much by the power. It was a dog out of the hole and has tremendous lag when I test drove it. However the mods on his neon should fix some of the problems I was disappointed with. Good Luck with the race and I'm sure you will win.

Nice avatar Sam!! LOL

I pulled from one of those things after 80 in the S2..I don't think you should have much trouble with a modded turbo...once you get to 2nd it should be all over for that Neon..

That turbo neon according to road and track runs 14 flat. 0-60 in about 5.0-5.3. Scary car but how long can it last before detonation!
