And I disagree...300 lb-ft makes the 951 more difficult to launch, so in a 1/4 mile pass the SRT/4 will likely kick the 951's ***.

From a roll is a different story.

Well The neon does look like an interesting challange.
Supposedly the car has full 3 inch piping, boost controller and stage 1 upgrade.

Well PorschG96..
I probably would race him from a roll..but I dont want to bring up the S..word in here.
The S word..with Racing next to it
Just brings trouble I rather not

But lets see..if I were to race him from a roll on a "deserted" road, would you guys want to see the video or ban me?

Oh yeah..and for the "S"
Hes willing to run from a 40 or 60 roll..hmmmmm

The Neon will win stock vs stock. the neon will run a 13.98@100 with intake and exaust.(I have seen it) How much the boost controler can add is questionable because stock its 14psi and I dont think it will go much higher then that.

The 951 isnt fast anuff to win(stock). If you truly pushing 260rwhp then you should win. Of course the 951's are not made for a dragstrip anyways if you do race him. Record it.

The SRT-4 engine is supposta be good but the body is still a neon's and thus it will last 10years max before it becomes a rustcan unless its super highly maintained.

At $20k how many people will maintain it very well? These kids buy them and drive the **** out of em at the drag strip so I doubt they'll last more than 5 years before blowing up. Throw away cars..decent bang for the buck but I wouldn't be caught dead in it.

What color is the Neon?

And while I'll admit that Dodge, Ford et al aren't as good at rust proofing as the japs or krauts, it's not going to rust out after 10 years. This isn't 1982 and a K car. Everyone is good enough with thier rustproofing to last for a long time, barring any major scratches or some such.

Ive heard from many of reviews that the car is underrated by the factory and puts out about 260 horse at the [crank, not wheels], rather than 205. Here is one of the reviews. Its amazing how the neons only weigh 2700 lbs for a four door. This video is pretty cool and shows you what it has. http://www.alluptime.com/~dodgeboy/cdsrt.wmvIt comes with a lot of less than 20 g's. I want one now from this video. I wouldnt race this car on a track or against it with braking. And a 951 looks way better, no doubt.

Why not run against him on the track? Anyone can drive fast in a straight line, it's the turns that separate the men from the boys. And you wouldn't have to worry about which car would be in front!

Drag racing is beneath our cars.

260 at the wheels? Dang the one I played with musta had something wrong or just a REALLY crappy driver. How can those things put out so much power with a turbo the size of a krispy kreme? That said, with it being so small, why does it have lag like somebody said? You'd think it would spool up pretty quick.

I've seen them run at the strip at 14 flat is about what they average. Quick yes, I've ridden in one, but I wouldn't drive one on a racetrack..no way..with those brakes and suspension any 944 would probably embarrass it. I'd spend a few extra bucks and get a WRX over the Neon if I was gonna go that route.

well put dave,

as i once so candidly put it (in front of the car's owner -OOPS- "hey, you laughing at my neon???") i dont know how much respect i could give a car with a ~single~ turbo thats a tad bit smaller than the krispy kreme i had for breakfast. lag? it shouldnt. be fast? it shouldnt. look good? it doesnt. last long? i doubt it.

two words:
Krispy Kreme.

tell him you dont need to race to know your 944 is better. besides drag racing is for people who dont know how to drive, so tell him to learn to drive and bring it to the track, where you'll take your extra large bagel sized turbo against his krispy kreme wannabe turbo, and show him what for.

and kids,
don't street race!!!

Seriously that turbo is smaller than the twins on dad's 993TT. I guess it works though but...I dunno.

I think you mean putting out ~ 260 horse at the crank, not at the wheels.
The published ratings for the Neon are 215hp. This number is at the crank, not at the wheels. I doubt the Neon would loose only 5% hp in the drivetrain (difference between 215hp and 205hp).

Realistically, think the Neon has closer to 230hp at the crank, but that's just a guess....

-Z.

Michael: that's funny! Should we be calling you Z #2?!?!

lol... the turbo's size, your criticizing the turbo's size... its not dodges fault they found an efficient turbo, i spose they could strap a big old inefficient KKK turbo from the 80's on there
