Default Signal doesn't return

On my 951 the signal lever doesn't return. How do you fix this?

Thanks
Mike

You broke some plastic off. I believe it is possible to glue things back together and make it last for awhile. To do it right you need to replace the whole assembly on the steering column.

How much would a new assembly cost?

Mike,

I've had the problem where the left wouldn't cancel. Remove the steering wheel and wrap about 4-6 loops of elec tape around the black tab. This will make it thicker so it contacts the cancel tab better. Try it if you don't see anything physically broken.

Ok i'll check that out, thanks. If something is broken, what should I be looking for? Is it something that I can epoxy?

The obvious will be either the tab on the steering wheel or the little white cancel tab on the switch. If it's in the switch, you'll probably just have to replace it. The tab on the wheel is removeable and you may see if a salvage has some.

This happened to me! I even caught the plastic piece that broke off! Too much trouble to fix it. I went about 2 months before it got annoying. Price depends on your car. I had Air Bags and cruise control, and it controls the wipers. The unit cost about $200. Then figure about an hour or so worth of labor. Actually, i got off easy, my total bill came to like $150 for part and labor since i have the greatest mechanic and i visit often!

I broke mine on my n/a by holding it down to make two left turns in a row... Made a left out of the grocery store and then had to make a second left. I was feeling lazy so I kept it held down and when it tried to cancel... I heard a pop... broken, and a trip to 1-35 imports was needed.

The piece with the turnsignal on it was 65$ and my dad and i pulled the steering wheel and replaced the broken assembly. This was about a year ago and i don't remember exactly how the process worked.

It's really not a difficult job at all. One large nut and steering wheel comes off. The signal pod is held in place by 4 long machine screws. As I recall, the hardest part was lining up and re-connecting the semi-circular shaped connector on the bottom that feeds the unit. Think I paid 70-80 bucks for the part, Auto Atlanta.
