Default 88 944S flywheel & clutch

time to replace the clutch friction plate. Looking at the " Ranger " clutch option, modified some bolts to head thickness of .156". Not enough clearance will need to grind more off. In the mean time i removed the flywheel and found it to be cracked in a few places as well as worn from the rivets of the friction plate.

Can someone tell me what min thickness for the flywheel is ?
What flywheel will work? Are all 2.5 motor flywheels the same?
What and how do you remove the square toothed ring from the outside of the fly wheel?

And lastly does anyone have a good used flywheel for a reasonable cost. This car is almost $100 from the scrap yard.

If the clutch you took out was a spring center, just get it relined for under $100 and dont mess with the Ranger stuff.

There's a number of flywheels on ebay and I'd recommend not trying to re-invent the wheel, so to speak. It just makes sense, both time-wise and money-wise to simply replace with what works off the shelf. In recent days I've seen both clutch plates and flywheels for sale.

Unless you enjoy repeating every repair done like your first post:

https://rennlist.com/forums/924-931-...ase-plans.html

...do not do the cheap clutch replacement.

If the car is not worth the money to fix -----sell it for what you can get "as is".

You're just wasting money and aggravation.

DC Automotive in North Carolina has a used one for $100. I think I resurfaced mine for $40. Throw in $10 for shipping and you have a $150 resurfaced flywheel.

Hey OP, I have an excellent condition Flywheel, PP, and Disc if you're interested.

I'm happy to let the go cheap to a guy in need. Roughly 5k miles on them. Little surface rust.
