Default No Start?

I tried the DME relay, replaced the coil, replaced both computers. I had double spares for all 3. Still wont start. Any other ideas?

Does it turn over?

Reference sensors.

Vacuum leak? If it's this then it feels like it'll start but just keeps stumbling. Give more information, such as what happens when you try and how did it occur?

to run, you need spark, fuel, compression. There is a chart in the shop manual for troubleshooting, but absent that, 1. do you have compression? 2. do you have spark (pull a plug and watch it while you crank) 3. Do you have fuel - is the fuel pressure right, are the injectors firing?

I would go back to the coil wire...see if there is spark there (use a spark tester) work your way back from there.

+1 on the coil. If the coil has spark but nothing to the plugs it could be the rotor. I've see old rotors totally disintegrate.

Pulled the distributer cap off and everything looked fine except the hex set screw for the rotor was stripped.

I just had the head and top end done 5 months ago by a reputable high end shop and I'm disappointed they left it like that. They did the whole teardown and rebuild so they should have fixed it. I tried the replacing the coil wire no start. I had checked all the fuses as well.

Next stop back to the engine builder.

If you still have no spark you will have to diagnose that first..check Clark's garage for items to check.

Also if you have been cranking for a while and it is getting fuel it may be flooded, check to see if the plugs are wet..and check the oil level..if it rises the fuel may be washing by the rings and going into the oil pan. You don't want fuel in with the oil.

turns out it was the crank position sensors. Car fired right up!

What exactly was wrong with the crank position sensors. Reversed, simply bad, incorrect gap? Just curious because my track car has an intermittent start problem I think is either the sensor gap or a bad harness.

A good way to troubleshoot the crank position sensors (i.e. ref sensors) is to look for tach bounce at startup. If there is no bounce, your ref sensors are bad. If you reverse them upon installation, I've heard it won't fire up.

Not sure if it was a gap issue but we replaced both and it started. Just drove it home. They were $132.50 each and my local race shop charged me one hour labor. total bill $351
