I also have cleaned up my cars ***.
no pads, no lock hole, no letters. Altough planning to reinstall "S2" in black.

I didn't have to trim mine, just tucked them in nice when I was done..

BTW if you use a piece of cardboard, drill throughthe cardboard, then the shock, you have a cardboard battleshield to protect you from the oil spray..

I did not remove my pads though.. Maybe if I ever paint..
