Looking to hear some information on this. What do you guys recommend are they needed? I have one Bilstein Cup with an H&R boot and another without on brand new struts. Should I pass on the boot or find a new set for both?

Thanks, that's my thinking, just needed a confirmation on that.

On a car that is driven in dry conditions they are excellent at keeping the piston rods clean and minimize piston rod impact damage. Hence they are almost mandatory for offroad racers. If it is frequently driven in the wet they tend to trap condensation under them and promote corrosion of the piston rod. On a side note, I have always run dust boots.

I put new inserts on my car when one strut froze up. I replaced the yellow bumpers but forgot the dust boots. I worried about the same issue but I didn't want to pay to disassemble them again and re-do the alignment over this. I live in Florida and never go off-road so I'm going to live with it.
