Window and radio fuses repeatedly blowing!
okay, so tonight, i park my 85.5 n/a in town, shut off the car, and go to put the windows up and realize that they wont budge... either of them. checked the fuse - blown. replace with a spare, go to roll them up, and just as im about to press the button, i hear momentary fizz, and see the red LED next to the fog light switch flicker. again, fuse blown. i locked everything up in the glove box and let it be. getting back in the car to go home, i realize that my radio also doesnt work, i didnt check, but i can only assume its the fuse again. just before this happened, still getting used to driving stick, i was parallel parking on a hill, in which i may have stalled... twice.... and im not sure if these restarts had anything to do with it. also, when i got home i got under the dash to see if i could quickly find any shorts in the mess of wires, but nothing was clearly obvious. does anyone know of any place where the radio power and window motor power meet and can easily short?

if the radio is after market, check how it's wired in - I have seen the most amazing incompetent butcher jobs from radio installers - also check that the wires that go into the doors are not compromised

i wired it up, but its correctly wired. so, i realized i was putting in a 25A fuse when it was supposed to be 30A -___- i have no idea how i mixed that one up. but still my radio doesnt work. it worked fine up until this point, check both fuses, under the hood and on the back, and both are fine

well, figure out what power the radio isn't getting. I've seen all sorts of weird stuff in the central electronics unit as it ages - the copper strips oxidize and very odd things happen

i checked both positive leads at the radio harness and both have 0 voltage. also, this happened in tandem with my window fuse blowing, so something sounds off to me...

update: checked connections between the door and behind the hood release handle and both show no visible signs of failure. windows worked after replacing the fuse last night, got into the car this morning and the windows were out again. a month into ownership and im thinking about getting rid of it already....

As far as the windows, pull back the rubber grommets between the door and the A pillar, sometimes happens to 30 year old cars that have had an the doors opened and closed a million times.. wires can only take so much fatigue
