Post Fuel pump upgrade

What are most of you guys running for fuel pump and what would be recommended to upgrade from a 951 pump? I have a Walbro 255lph pump and it is pumping with a pressure of 55-70psi. The adjustable FPR can't drop the pressure enough, so I am considering a stock 951 or a Walbro 190lph. Does anyone know what the stock 951 is rated for? My car is a '86 NA-based with a Callaway Turbokit at 15+ psi.

I think most people upgrade to a different Bosch pump.

I don't know, I don't have one.

Try Turbo Tim

or Huntley Racing

one of them has to know.

Mark,

If you have not already bought a new fuel pump, I have one from a 993 tt that will deliver enough fuel for approx. 450 H/P. It cost a chunk and is all but new. It is a Bosch, but I don't have the Bosch part number at my fingertips. If you're interested, you can have it for a fraction of the cost.

Kurt, do you know if this pump is the same as the 928GTS? Derrek at HR told me that it in one of the more powerful pump capable of about 700hp.

Try this link: http://www.imaginis.org/Cobra/fuel.html

This appears to be good data about available EFI pumps.

Bosch pumps are listed first. The top three are essentially the same pump with different hose configurations. FYI, the 964 Turbo pump is the first one listed (PN 964 620 104 00) and is the same pump listed by the factory for the 968 Turbo S/RS. These pumps are larger diameter than the stock pump but smaller than the diameter with the rubber insulator.

The pump I have is the bottom one, the Walbro GSL392, at 50psi it flows 67gph which is more than the 964turbo by 12gph. But my system is running at 70-80psi, so what is wrong? It should be much lower and the AFPR
doesn't help.

the flow rate of your pump is too high, your FPR is probably wide open and the pressure won't drop enough, you are lucky it even starts. You need to go with the same pressure as factory and a higher flow rate, pressure and flow are related but are very different factors.
A 928 pump will deliver more fuel at the same pressure if you have the mods to use it.

Does anyone know how much the 928 pump costs and which one it is? S4/GT, GTS, 993TT as well as the flow rate? Is it the same as the 964Turbo on the top of the comparison page? I was going to change to a lower Walbro fuel pump the GSL391.
