That video was awesome to watch! Really inspires me. Although here in the states, at least in California, you take turns going around the track like an autocross and your time is added together for the 6 laps you get. lowest time is the winner. Although seeing racing like what you posted would be epic fun but not to a car that I daily drive as well.

Back to the project, this will be two posts due to pictures.

Today I installed my short shifter I got from only944 I have both the shifter and the short shifter now installed in the car. The thing shifts so awesome! When I first got my 944 a year and a half ago while in gear you couldn't tell if you were in 1st, 3rd, or fifth. It was really bad. But now there is no slop whatsoever and that makes me so happy. Here are the comparison picture of the original shifter and the new one.

I also installed my new transmission mounts. Which I also help aid in such a smooth shift as well. Car handles great and feels "lighter" what I mean is it doesn't feel like I have something hanging from under the car. It feels like one unit now which translates to feeling lighter.

Sorry I didn't see this sooner. We have one of the strongest RallyCross programs in the country here in the Detroit Region SCCA. We typically have 11 events per year - one each month, with the exception of the swamp month (March or April).

Personally, I was instrumental in getting our series off the ground and served as our RallyCross Director for a few years.

Early on I competed in a DSM in the M4 (modified four-wheel drive class) and then moved occasionally into my wife's (PA - Prepared All) Subaru 2.5RS.

Hopefully I am not hijacking this thread too much. I'd really like to see updates on the original posting. But in the meantime - here are some shots taken at some of our RallyCrosses. The common thread is that I am the driver in each case.

I'll update soon with Porsche content. As that is where I have been running lately and plan to compete there again with a new machine that is only in the planning stages at the moment (though most of the parts are on hand).

Here's link to the Detroit SCCA website. There is a brief description of our form of RallyCross. It's significantly different from what Europeans/ Kiwis/ Aussies think of. http://detroit-scca.org/e107/page.php?12

Man, I want a rallycross 944 so bad. The Rally America ones are too cool, but I probably won't get in to stage rally. Dirt shenanigans + Porsche = still want, though.

Well I used Herbie for a few events as a competition vehicle and many times for course lay-out of events that I chaired.

Poor Herbie got rear-ended in 2009 so he is no longer driven in any capacity. There is some good news though, most everything other than the body is still good and will be the basis of a new RallyCross 944!

Here are few of Herbie in action.

My wife would let me RallyCross her car as well (Penelope). She usually ran in the PR (Prepared Rear-drive) class, while I would run in MR (Modified Rear). There were a few exceptions where we would run in the same class. The National rules state that any vehicle without a cat needs to run in the M classes. Our local rules place this split at the P class level. The car was effectively a Stock class car, with the only modification being the custom exhaust system.

The fact that I am her "tame Porsche mechanic" helped get me in and keep me there. It probably also led to the death of the engine in that car. I killed poor Penelope last November at a RallyCross in Ohio.

But again, we are making lemonade from lemons... https://rennlist.com/forums/924-931-...ico-86-na.html

Here are a few shots of Penelope in action.

2013 was one of the best years ever for me. Two rides came my way that year. One was in a Group2 Lancer in the Rally America (stage rally) series. We did well and helped the owner develop his car and his business.

The other ride was this, totally awesome, 911. https://rennlist.com/forums/911-foru...roject-18.html

The owner was looking to showcase his business and his new project car. He jokingly said that victories would help to that end. My wife suggested: "if you want to win, you should let him drive it"... as she pointed at me. Gotta love that woman.

Together we won all 11 rounds of the Detroit RallyCross series in 2013. I took the first 10 and the owner won the last one (on my home track - literally, my home track). We started out 2014 in similar fashion until the owner damaged the transmission while playing in our backyard. The car was out of commission for a few months so I completed the season in Penelope and, then after breaking the engine, in other competitor's cars.

Here are some shots of one of the best cars I have ever had the pleasure of driving. The last four were taken at our farm (home track).
