Hello all. I am new to this, so let me begin without so much criticism. First, I would like to say I am happy to be a part of this Rennlist family. I have heard about it so much in public, from other Porsche owners.

Continuing, I recently purchased a 1987 944 Turbo (176,000 miles) with nothing missing, and everything working. I scored it for a nice $4,600. The body needs minor attention, though I will probably repaint the whole thing. The interior is slightly faded in some areas and the seats have cracks. But even the sunroof and hatch button work still. The guy who sold it to me is apparently an Auto Tech for European cars. He gave me a list of things he had done to improve the car, in his opinion.

Those things include: Autothority Stage2 chipset, Turbonetics wastegate, manual boost controller, rebuilt turbo and a remote oil cooler. But, he left the stock AFM and exhaust on it. The car spools around 28-2900 rpm and pulls amazingly around 19 PSI under heavy loads. Anyways, sorry to ramble, I am going to be replacing the AFM with a MAF (Ford Lightning) and I will be building myself the exhaust (with Flowmaster muffler). The major thing the car really needs is new piston rings. Strange that while replacing all else, he did not do this. It's evident that they are originals because on warm-up the thing smokes moderately and it goes through a quart of oil every 500 miles. So, I have quite the project ahead. I will post a few pics here in a while.

In these pictures you will see the new Boxster wheels and Yokohama tires I put on it. I sold the old wheels for the same price I managed to buy the Boxster wheels, so I was happy about that.

Quick history: I used to own a 1978 924 as a kid. It was a solid car, and I rebuilt an engine and head from another 78 to put in, and added a 5 speed from a 944. I ended up wanting more than 120 hp, so I fabbed up an Eaton M90 supercharger to the side of the engine, and it gained maybe 50 hp. It was very loud, as I welded up a straight exhaust and had it on headers. It was alright until I got into Jeeps and ended up parting out the 924, and then recycling the body. I actually still have it's exhaust hanging in my garage and the PermaTune chip I bought for it. So, I know my way around these German rods...

Looking good! 944 turbo is a great car. So you may have some engine work to do down the road but you certainly did a lot on the '78 so nothing new for you! Enjoy it.

@mazdaverx7: It has a solid history, and no reported accidents. I ran its VIN through a VIN check before purchasing it. It came back clean. There's a few receipts in the glove box for small things like gasket kits and a tranny rebuild. But no hard evidence of anything crazy. But when I say everything works and is there, I mean it. Even the ridiculous mechanical cruise control is here and working. Standards should never have these. The sunroof gears actually just gave away the other day. I noticed it when one side was lower than the other.

Welcome and congrats Love the new wheels. The jeep looks awesome too, I recently just picked up a YJ from Reno, NV and love it so far. First time Jeep owner and not sure I will ever get rid of it now. Enjoy and keep us updated.

1. Any receipts for head gasket replacement? Any leaks or mixing evident?
2. Have you run any compression or leakdown tests yet?
3. Original Turbo from what you can tell?

nice car. sounds like a perfect setup for the thin mountain air.

don't run a flowmaster. it won't flow a 944T. not even close.

run a straight-through 3" Magnaflow or Borla, about 14"X9"X5".
