Jim968, That was just me tring to be funny in the movie the 356 was damaged in a wreck and the the small town mechanics diagnosed the problem as the oil pumpkin houseing.

Something else to check while you're down there. We recently had a horrible time diagnosing a slow oil pressure problem. It turned out to be a cracked pick up tube. The symtoms were that it would take 30-40 seconds for the tappet noise to settle down. What was happening was the pump had to re-prime itself every time. It was a very frustrating diagnosis. We focused on the infamous pressure regulator mounted by the oil cooler for weeks.
