What kind of upgrade options do I have on an 87 NA? Specifically, can I use S2 ro Turbo brakes? Do they just bolt on? Do I need the master cylinder? How about aftermarket options? What do folks like the best? Phew...lots of questions..sorry.

Mike, I am not sure but I think there are backspacing issues with the stock 15" rims. I thought you could bolt on the 928 brakes if you had the 16" rims but again I am not positive. Is there a difference between the 951 and 928 front brakes?

Mike,
If you have ABS or the standard ABS offsets 55mm front and 52.3mm rear then I believe (not sure) that the non-S Turbo/S2 brakes can be bolted on directly (rotors and calipers). You would need larger baking plates for the larger rotors and there may be a difference in Master cylinders but I am not sure. Look at a parts ordering list (paragon or pelican or the like) and if the numbers are different so is the M.C.
Ihth...a little.

Max

Thank you for the replies so far. I don't have ABS and I have 17" rims in the works, so brake clearance shouldn't be an issue. Does anyone know if I need the whole strut/hub assembly for sure...or if i can just bolt on the bigger calipers of the S2/turbo.

Mike,
I'd recommend that you not start changing out calipers and such. Try more aggressive pads, do so in steps, and stop at the level of torque required. I run my stock '88 NA at Road America with braking from 115 to 35 at the 2 marker. No warp, very little fade, plenty of brake.
Just my 2 cents. You don't mention why you're considering an upgrade, so I might be way off base.
Keep the shiny side up.

Skip, from Paragon products, has been noticably absent from this board lately (maybe he's tired of finding out how to make out in his 944!). But, he can help you. (http://www.paragon-products.com/)

Thanks to all(this is Mike S). I was curious because I need to replace all four rotors and rebuild at least two calipers. Years of neglect from the previous owner have made my brakes pretty bad. I figured that if I was doing this it might be about the same cost to just upgrade at the same time.

Buy the German rotors, they last. Don't remember who made mine, but they say 'Made in Germany'. No warp yet and I bloody well hammer those discs at the track.
